HOME RACE WEEKEND! And what a weekend it was! Despite construction at the centre, our team of race ‘organisers’ and assisting coaches and riders put together an excellent course that gained quite a few compliments throughout race day. We had to leave out our infamous off-camber but kept a fabulous set of winding corners and banks on the far side, a hair-pin-like corner coming out of the bike track and a couple off-cambers and corners around the back of the cricket pitch and start loop.

Our day kicked off with some of our two U8 riders finishing eighth and ninth: Sunni Muriithi and Jordan Riley. Following them, our U10 females saw Ella Greenhalgh (2nd), Florence Boustred (3rd) and Amie Williams (4th) fill out our podium, with Annie Forsyth in seventh. U10 boys had Leighton Riley in third, Joseph Lovegrove in fourth, Joshua Marsden in eleventh and Wilfred Barlow in fourteenth.

Next up, our U12s; Emily Williams and Freddie Trosh both finished in second place. Theo Plumb came sixth, chased by Reuben Lewis in seventh; Archie Frogley in eleventh, James Sutton twelfth, Ruben Davies seventeenth, James Martin nineteenth and Rex Davies twentieth.

Then we hit the adults course!

First up, where the U14s and U16s. In the U14s, Eve Carline just missed the top step and finished second, Alexis Barry and Matilda Wilks fought well, finishing fifth and seventh respectively. Ruby Boustred ended in eleventh. Billy Dyer came sixteenth and Leeyo Muriithi, nineteenth. In the U16s, Reuben Harrington came fourth, Adam Koperdan eleventh, Aneurin Gilbert thirteenth, George Boustred fifteenth and Marit Davidse finished sixth.

Following them, Andi Gardiner topped the sheets in M40s with his first win of the season! Pete Boustred came sixth and Tom Budden in ninth. In Juniors, Benji Pike finished fifth and James Blankley came eighth, following a pre-race mechanical that ended with him on a mountain bike. In the women’s, Poppy Carline came third. And in Senior women’s, Emma Harrison finished fifth.

Overall, a brilliant effort for all! Thank you to everyone who participated, marshalled, helped out etc in any way, we really appreciate all the effort put into it and are very happy with the turn out!
