Gosport & Solent Virtual Reliability Ride

Date: Sunday 18 Oct 2020
Time: 12:00am
Location:

The October reliability ride sees the introduction of a brand new 50-mile route, starting from Southampton (West End), heading east to Gosport, and returning via the Solent coast.

During lockdown we are encouraging riders to “eat out to help out” and have introduced a 30 minute time bonus if you stop at a café – see “special features” below.

For the October ride, there are good cafés in Bishops Waltham, Wickham, and Lee-on-the-Solent.

There are three special features of these VRRs:

  1. Firstly, you can ride a route any time you like, up to the last Sunday of the month; you may ride with others, but not in groups larger than six.
  2. Secondly, these rides are circular, so you can start and finish anywhere along the route.
  3. And thirdly, we are asking members not to treat this as competitive event but merely as a test of their endurance and skill in navigating (and, if necessary, fixing a minor mechanical problem); to this end, we are encouraging you to “eat out to help out” by awarding a 30-minute time bonus to any of you wishing to take a break at a café along the route.

If you decide to take on, and complete, one of these challenges, please send your starting and finishing times by email to Bill Drabkin on clubruns@sotonia.co.uk; your result will be recorded on the club’s Facebook pages.
