June’s segment was a tricky-to-pace climb just outside of Winchester on Down Farm Lane, starting off steep and then then running into a false flat.
Niclas Olley again tops the leaderboard in last month’s segment of the month competition. And again, he claimed the KoM in the process. Kudos, Niclas. Jon Hall came in second, with Tim Cooke taking the final place on the podium in the open competition.
There was one solitary entrant in the female competition, Jen Dawson. Doubtless her time would have been good enough to beat off any competition, though.
The v50 competition is shaping up to be a close run thing. Jon Hall and Tim Cooke took first and second, with Jon Dudley taking third place. There’s not much to separate them at the moment in GC, although it’s early days.

In July, we head back to the Forest to the infamous New Forest airfield road. I can imagine lots of riders planning this one carefully and consulting their weather apps assiduously, as there’s likely to be a prevailing wind which will hamper people’s best efforts on Stoney Cross to t-junction, a 4 km flat drag. Good luck! https://www.strava.com/segments/2439399
If you want to play your joker, remember to let us know in the first three days of the month.
